Import
Import a PDF or Word Resume into an Editor
Upload the resume you already have, as a PDF or Word file, and it becomes structured, editable sections. Your wording is copied as written; nothing is rewritten during import.
How it works
- Choose a filePDF or DOCX, up to 5 MB.
- Text is extracted on the serverThe file is read in memory. Only its text is used; the file itself isn't stored.
- Contact details are maskedEmails, phone numbers, links and your name are replaced with placeholders like [EMAIL_1] and [CANDIDATE_NAME].
- AI sorts the text into sectionsThe masked text is sent to the AI provider, which returns roles, dates, bullets, education and skills as structured data.
- Details are restored and you reviewThe placeholders are swapped back on the server, and you check the result. Sections that need a look are flagged.
What files work
- Formats
- PDF and DOCX. Older .doc files, images and other formats aren't accepted.
- Size
- Up to 5 MB.
- Won't import
- Scanned PDFs with no selectable text, password-protected PDFs, and unusually large Word documents.
- Requires
- An AI provider, because turning free text into sections needs one. Imports count towards the hourly AI limit.
Limitations
Unusual layouts, text in images, tables and heavily designed templates can come through out of order or incomplete. Always read through the result before relying on it. The name detection that masks your name uses the resume header and names already on your account, so a name in an unusual position can occasionally slip through to the AI provider. The import is never blocked because of this.
Privacy
The original file is discarded after its text is read. Only the structured content and the original file name are saved with the resume. See the privacy policy for what's sent to AI providers.
Build, check and tailor your resume in one place, then practise the interview.
